THE ENTRY PERIOD HAS CLOSED.
We are contacting bands now and will be finalizing the Blues Challenge performance dates and posting the schedules here soon! We have 14 bands entered and are excited to start the Blues Challenge process!
Competition dates will be March 24, April 7, April 21, (May 5 if needed) with the finals being held on May 19, 2013. Performance venues will be announced after the entry period is complete.
The winner will represent the Blues Society of Omaha at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in late January-early February 2014.
Here are the official rules for the 2013-14 Nebraska Blues Challenge, along with the official entry form (below-please scroll down on this page), as well as the latest press release and an update on prizes.
Entries will be accepted Jan. 1, 2013, through Monday, Feb. 18, 2013. This site is best viewed in Firefox. The entry form and official rules can also be found at www.omahablues.com. Entries should be emailed to NebraskaBluesChallenge@gmail.com.
UPDATE ON PRIZES: The winning
band will also receive a prize package that includes $1200 toward the expenses
of their trip to Memphis, a studio recording package from the Moose Lodge
Recording Studio and a promotional photo package from Richard Allen
Photography. The winner will also have the opportunity to perform several paid
gigs in the region representing the Blues Society of Omaha as the Nebraska
Blues Challenge winner.
“Winning the International Blues Challenge is better than having a $100,000 publicity budget,” says Zac Harmon, 2004 IBC winner and 2006 Blues Music Award Best New Artist.
